How does your waitlist work?
First, you need to fill out and submit our Waiting List Registration form below. If a spot at our centre opens up for your child, you will be contacted by phone and/or email.
How is your waiting list prioritized?
There are 3 categories within the Wait List and, priority is given as follows:
- Siblings of currently enrolled clients,
- Sir Adam Beck School catchment clients or students,
- Out of catchment clients.
How many openings are there within the Centre in a year?
The wait list fluctuates and changes throughout the year; however, the majority of openings for new clients occurs in September of every year. In April of each year, AAASI will notify those families being offered an upcoming September spot based on the wait list. This is done to allow for planning for the Centre and incoming families respectively.
If you have not heard from us by May, you are welcome to contact AAASI via email and we can update you on your status within the list.
On occasion, spots open up at other points in the year (as current clients are required to give the Centre a 30-day written notice of intent to withdraw). Once the withdrawal is received, AAASI will go to the next person on the waiting list to fill the spot.

What happens if I decline a spot in the Centre when it is offered to me?
If you decline a spot in the Centre when it is offered to you, you have the option to remain on our waiting list at the date we received your application, or you can ask to be removed from it.
Once on a Waiting List, is there any guarantee that my child will be enrolled in the Centre within a reasonable period of time?
Unfortunately, not. Withdrawals from the Centre vary and there are a few vacancies in a typical year as children currently enrolled in our program have the priority to stay for the following academic year before we reach out to clients on our waiting list. Consequently, the Centre cannot guarantee your child will be admitted within any timeframe.
Can my priority number on the waiting list change?
Yes, your priority number on the waiting list can change. This is due to our Centre’s policy of giving priority to children who have siblings already enrolled in the Centre, then to in-catchment clients to Sir Adam Beck School, and finally to out of catchment clients.
I registered my child on AAASI’s Waiting List but have since made alternative day care arrangements. Will my child’s name automatically be removed from the Waiting List?
No, your child’s name will remain on the Waiting List until:
- Your child is enrolled in the Centre,
- Your child is aged out of our waiting list,
- You have asked to be removed from the waiting list.
What is AAASI’s catchment area?
The catchment area for AAASI is the same as the catchment area for Sir Adam Beck School. The boundaries are:
- North to Bisset Avenue/Evans Avenue
- East to Browns Line
- South to Enfield Avenue/Edgeware Drive
- West to the Etobicoke Creek
ARE WAITING LISTS CAPPED?
No, our waiting lists are not capped. The Centre will accept waiting list registration requests for all children. Each application is dated, stamped, and signed to protect the order of application submissions evenhandedly.
